The information below represents some of the notable calls for service handled by the Verona Police Department between Friday (8/11) evening and Monday (8/14) morning. This information is not all-inclusive, but rather is preliminary information gathered from officers who investigated the calls.
- 8/12/23 @ 7:23 a.m. – A caller reported a loud construction project beginning prior to 8:00 a.m. An officer contacted the construction foreman and educated him on Ordinance 11-2-7(b)(6), which prohibits construction projects to begin prior to 8:00 a.m. on weekends (7:00 a.m. during the week). - 8/12/23 @ 2:15 p.m. – VPD assisted in the funeral procession of USMC Lance Corporal Tanner Kaltenberg from the Verona Area High School to his final resting place. (Obituary)
- 8/13/23 @ 2:44 a.m. – An officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration. Signs of impairment were detected in the driver, and roadside Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered. The driver, a 34yo man from Verona, was arrested for OWI – 2nd Offense. He refused a breath test, and a search warrant to obtain a sample of his blood was granted by a judge.
