The information below represents some of the notable calls for service handled by the Verona Police Department between Friday (8/4) evening and Monday (8/7) morning. This information is not all-inclusive, but rather is preliminary information gathered from officers who investigated the calls.
- 8/4/23 @ 4:29 p.m. – An officer was dispatched to a private parking complaint. Upon arrival, the officer found the vehicle occupied by a 37yo female from Mazomanie. The female was determined to be on probation and was prohibited from consuming or possession alcohol. The female was under the influence of alcohol and possessed alcohol; however, the Probation Office requested she not be arrested for the violation, but rather check in with her agent on Monday.
- 8/5/23 @ 3:41 a.m. – Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in which a 21yo female was locked out of her apartment by her 21yo boyfriend. Eventually, the boyfriend opened the door for officers, and he was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Both involved parties refused to provide any statements about what led up to police being called.
- 8/5/23 @ 11:36 a.m. – An officer conducted a traffic stop with a bicyclist who failed to stop at a stop sign. The 27yo man from Fitchburg was warned for the violation. As a reminder, all bicyclists operating on roadways are required to obey by the “Rule of the Road.” That means, bicyclists need to operate their bike as if they were operating a motor vehicle. VPD actively enforces bike operation violations on roadways in an attempt to educate riders of their responsibilities.
- 8/5/23 @ 6:48 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated man who fell. The 69yo Verona man was incapacitated and deemed unable to care for himself. Ultimately, he was placed under protective custody and transported to a hospital for care.
