The information below represents some of the notable calls for service handled by the Verona Police Department between Friday (7/28) evening and Monday (7/31) morning. This information is not all-inclusive, but rather is preliminary information gathered from officers who investigated the calls.
- 7/29/23 @ 10:55 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in which fights erupted at an organized football game. The investigation determined a 19yo female from Jefferson was struck in the back of the head by a 21yo male from Madison. The suspect left prior to VPD arrival. The investigation is continuing.
- 7/30/23 @ 11:50 a.m. – VPD and Dane County Crisis Intervention met with a 22yo man from Madison regarding his mental health needs. Arrangements were originally made for the man to seek help at a Madison hospital; however, he was ultimately placed under emergency detention and was transported to the Winnebago Mental Health Institute.
- 7/30/23 @ 4:42 p.m. – Officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A 33yo man from Verona was arrested for Battery and Disorderly Conduct.
- Over the course of the weekend, our night shift officers contacted or attempted contact with at least 15 homeowners regarding their garage doors being left open. Many property crimes are crimes of opportunity. Please do your best to secure your residences and vehicles so you do not become an easy victim.
