The information below represents some of the notable calls for service handled by the Verona Police Department between Friday (7/14) evening and Monday (7/17) morning. This information is not all-inclusive, but rather is preliminary information gathered from officers who investigated the calls.
- 7/14/23 @ 7:27 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a vehicle crash. A delivery truck backed out of a driveway and struck an unoccupied, legally parked vehicle. There were no injuries reported and a crash report was completed. About 45 minutes later, the same driver left the delivery truck in neutral, and the truck rolled and collided with another unoccupied, legal parked vehicle. No injuries were reported during that crash. Needless to say, the delivery driver was not having a good day.
- 7/16/23 @ 2:53 a.m. – An officer stopped a vehicle because the operator failed to stop at flashing red traffic signals. Signs of impairment were observed in the 23yo man from Madison. Following the initial investigation and a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), the driver was arrested for OWI-1st Offense. He was cited for that violation, as well as Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration and Failure to Stop at Flashing Red Signal, and he was released to a responsible party.
- 7/16/23 @ 3:57 p.m. – A 43yo female from Madison was cited for traveling 67 MPH in a 35 MPH zone on Old PB near Military Ridge Drive.
