The information below represents some of the notable calls for service handled by the Verona Police Department between Friday (6/16) evening and Monday (6/19) morning. This information is not all-inclusive, but rather preliminary information gathered from officers who investigated the calls.
- 6/16/23 @ 5:23 p.m. – Officers were summoned to a business for a report of an intoxicated employee who wanted to drive away. The employee did drive off; however, an officer stopped him, administered a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), and arrested the 38yo Verona man for OWI.
- 6/16/23 @ 8:37 p.m. – Earlier in the week found property was turned in to VPD. It was learned the owner of the property had multiple warrants. The property owner was contacted, and eventually responded to VPD to get her property. She was arrested on the outstanding warrants and booked into jail.
- 6/17/23 @ 11:44 a.m. – An officer stopped a vehicle for traveling 106MPH in the 65MPH zone of USH 18/151. The officer detected an odor of alcohol and SFSTs were administered. Ultimately, the driver was determined not to be intoxicated, but he was cited for Reckless Driving and Failure to Wear Seat Belt.
- 6/18/223 – VPD’s K9 assisted Oregon PD and DCSO with sniffing vehicles for drug odor. Our K9 also assisted Middleton PD with an area search after suspects fled from a stolen vehicle.
