On April 26, 2021, the Common Council approved Resolution No. R-21-022 recognizing May of 2021 as No Mow May to encourage all citizens to support efforts to protect pollinators. To help protect pollinators, the City will suspend enforcement of length of lawns and grasses until June 1, 2021. The suspension of the enforcement will allow pollinator species to emerge and early flowering grasses to establish to benefit the pollinators.
The City has created a lawn sign in hopes that people will create their own sign to help educate others about the advantages of not mowing in May. Plus, a sign in your yard will let neighbors know you are participating in No Mow May.
Don't forget to bring the mowers back out on June 1 as enforcement for long grasses will begin.
