The City is continuing to improve transportation and sustainability. The City is working to reduce its emissions by installing an anti-idling technology for the City's new ambulance. The City's Police Department periodically conducts bicycle patrol deployments, participants in bike safety presentations, and has replaced fleet vehicles with hybrid vehicles.
In January of 2019, the City of Verona was awarded as a Wisconsin Active Together Community. The City of Verona was one of fourteen communities in Wisconsin to receive this recognition. This award supports the City's commitment to people being active by walking, running, biking, and playing. In November of 2019, the City of Verona was awarded a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community and is valid until 2023. The Bronze award recognizes the City's commitment to improving conditions for all people who bike. The City continues to add and improve bicycle facilities, the Police Department continues to hold their Bike Safety Event, and Sugar Creek Elementary School, at that time, taught a bicycle education program to promote a strong bicycle community.
